Superfast broadband in a cafe??? Only in Cornwall…

In the news today, a story about an internet cafe which is offering connection speeds around 50 times faster than normal broadband. The Goonhilly Downs satellite station near Cornwall is plugged directly into BT’s global IP network so now you can enjoy hugely productive download speeds while sipping coffee, eating cake and marvelling at the satellite dishes.

How long till we all have this sort of speed?? Probably not until either the local loop is sorted out (could be years) or some other transmission medium (fibre?) is laid in it’s place.
