Google buys JotSpot

October 31, 2006

Google has bought the online wiki providing company JotSpot. It’s another acquisition of a company who share a similar ethos to Google of making it easy for people to share their information and data. JotSpot’s product is a platform for building wiki-based applications. For example, the company has an online spreadsheet and calendar that multiple people can edit.

It seems like another smart buy for Google, it fits neatly in with Writely, Spreadsheets and Blogger as another way for people to publish their information in a collaborative environment. It would be nice to see a wiki style add-on for Blogger come out of this as one development!

The news was announced by Joe Kraus of Jotspot on the Googleblog.
